District Zouk's progressive classes start next week. If you're interested in learning Brazilian zouk - a partner dance that is growing in popularity in DC and around the world - there are 9 different classes to choose from in different levels. These classes are the best way to learn since you're with a consistent group each week and each week builds on the previous one. If you're new to this dance we recommend you start with Basics 1 (Tuesdays at 7:00pm). If you have some experience already, you can consider the other levels. Monday Zouk / Drop-in Classes
Level 1 (7:00-8:00pm) Fundamentals
Learn the fundamental steps, movements and lead/follow technique in zouk. No experience or partner necessary. Drop-ins are welcome any week, but we start a new cycle on the first Monday of every month and cover a full cycle of fundamentals each month.
Level 2 (8:15-9:15pm) Technique & Variations
Aimed at people who have learned the basics and want to take their dancing to the next level, we will focus on lead/follow technique as well as more complex movements and patterns.
Practica (9:30-11 am)
Practice what you've learned in a safe environment - lights on, and you're free to ask questions of each other and instructors. The practica is included with attendance at either drop-in class, or you can come just for the practica.
