Level 1 Salsa Footwork for Beginners

Service Description

This is a Drop-in class for new students who want to learn the fundamentals of Salsa starting from the ground up. This class focuses on building a strong foundation by first teaching students how to move individually as a salsa dancer to prepare them for partner work. We will teach and drill the basic steps, timing, connection with the music, turns, basic shines, and basic movements to give students the framework to create their own style. We will have time for instruction each class and time for drilling and integrating these movements into our bodies, so be ready to learn, move, and have fun! Prerequisites: None We require taking at least one footwork class before our partner work class and up to 10 classes for a strong foundation. Shoes: The key to proper shoes is finding a pair that will pivot on a tile surface, have flat bottoms to medium heels, and have ankle support. If you do not have shoes that will pivot over tile, purchasing a pair of socks for dancing that slide over the ball of your sneakers will do the trick. The instructor has a few to lend out.
