In the heart of the D/M/V area, the Bachata scene is growing faster than ever. But moving from "just getting by" on the social floor to truly expressing yourself requires a mix of solid foundation, good technique and creative patterns. Here’s why this Saturday session is a must-attend for local dancers.

The Secret to Smooth Bachata: It’s All in the Patterns

Many dancers hit a "plateau" where they feel like they are doing the same three moves over and over. Our Saturday class is specifically designed to break that cycle. We focus on:

  • Fluid Lead-Follow Connection: Learning how to communicate through movement without tension.

  • Modern Style Combinations: Incorporating the latest trends seen online and elsewhere into your social dancing.

  • Rhythmic Timing: Understanding the music so your footwork feels natural and effortless.

Learn from a Pro:

Success on the dance floor starts with the right instruction. Our Saturday class is led by Kat Plonger, one of DMV's best Ballroom and Latin dance instructors, with nearly two decades of dance experience, bringing s a professional edge to every session.

She doesn’t just teach you "what" to do; she teaches you the "how" and "why," ensuring you look polished and feel confident.

No Partner? No Problem!

One of the most common myths about dance classes is that you need to bring a partner. At DanceSport Dupont, we foster a social inclusive environment. We rotate partners throughout the class, which not only helps you improve your adaptability as a dancer but also makes it a great way to meet new friends in the community.

Creating a Safe Space

To ensure a fun and convenient environment, we ask everyone to avoid giving feedback to other students on the dance floor. The instructor is available to answer any questions you might have.

We believe that dance roles (lead and follow) should not necesserely be associated with gender. We aim to use gender-neutral language when discussing roles in class and encourage all students to do the same.

Our top priority, however, is fostering a welcoming atmosphere, ensuring safety and comfort for everyone, having fun, and learning to Salsa Dance.
