Join our Salsa class at DanceSport Dupon designed specifically to individuals who are absolute beginners, as well as to those who are interested in refining and perfecting their dance steps. Our classes are led by the talented Mario Cervantes, a seasoned dance instructor with over 15 years of extensive experience in in teaching Salsa as well as various other dance styles (see bio below) Under Mario's expert guidance, you will have the unparalleled opportunity to develop and enhance your dancing skills within a dynamic, enjoyable, and supportive environment. No dance partner, no problem! You don't need to worry about bringing a dance partner along, as we actively promote partner rotation during our sessions to enrich your overall dancing experience. Shoes? Bring a comfortable pair, especialy one that will pivot on a tile surface, have flat bottoms to medium heels, and have ankle support. Creating a safe space To create a safe space, please refrain from giving feedback to another student on the dance floor. The instructor is happy to answer any questions you may have. We support the idea that dance roles (lead and follow) should not be tied to gender. We will strive to use de-gendered language when referring to roles in class and encourage all students to do the same. Our top priority is creating a welcoming environment, keeping everyone safe and comfortable, having fun, and learning to Salsa Dance. Class Instructor's bio: Originally from Monterrey, Mexico, Mario began dancing jazz and Mexican folk at a young age and later trained internationally in ballet, contemporary, and Latin rhythms. By age 15, he was already teaching Latin dance while continuing his professional training. His career includes performing with top dance companies, representing Mexico in international folk festivals (Italy, Russia, U.S.), and choreographing for television, cultural events, and private productions. With over 15 years of teaching experience, Mario has instructed students of all ages in salsa, bachata, cumbia, and merengue. He is very well known for his creativity, vibrant personality, and passion for helping others express themselves through dance. Currently, Mario is teaching at DanceSport Dupont as well as at other top dance studios in DC area including Salsa with Silvia.
