Salsa Level 1 | Absolute Beginners

Service Description

Join our Salsa class at DanceSport Dupon designed specifically to individuals who are absolute beginners, as well as to those who are interested in refining and perfecting their dance steps. This drop-in class is led by the talented Mario Cervantes, a seasoned dance instructor with over 15 years of extensive experience in in teaching Salsa as well as various other dance styles. With Mario's expert guidance, you will have a uniques opportunity to develop and enhance your dancing skills within a dynamic, enjoyable, and supportive environment. (see his full bio below). This is a drop-in class. So you can join at anytime. (Ask your instructor about other upcoming "Salsa intermediate" series and wither you are ready to join that one.) Social dancing practice opportunity: We host a monthly social dance party right here in Dupont. We highly recommend adding a party pass to your booking so you can practice what you learn in class, meet the community, and experience real social dancing! No dance partner, no problem! You don't need to worry about bringing a dance partner along, as we actively promote partner rotation during our sessions to enrich your overall dancing experience. Shoes? Bring a comfortable pair, especialy one that will pivot on a tile surface, have flat bottoms to medium heels, and have ankle support. Creating a safe space To create a safe space, please refrain from giving feedback to another student on the dance floor. The instructor is happy to answer any questions you may have. We support the idea that dance roles (lead and follow) should not be tied to gender. We will strive to use de-gendered language when referring to roles in class and encourage all students to do the same. Our top priority is creating a welcoming environment, keeping everyone safe and comfortable, having fun, and learning to Salsa Dance. Class Instructor's bio: Originally from Monterrey, Mexico, Mario began dancing jazz and Mexican folk at a young age and later trained internationally in ballet, contemporary, and Latin rhythms. With over 15 years of teaching experience, Mario has instructed students of all ages in salsa, bachata, cumbia, and merengue. He is very well known for his creativity, vibrant personality, and passion for helping others express themselves through dance.
